Senior Year: Lacking Motivation During COVID-19

Finishing my senior year at home because of a pandemic is not what I pictured.
It’s my senior year of college and Zoom University is kicking my butt. Do I have a lot to do compared to other students? No (it’s my last semester of college and I made sure to take a light course load). Do I want to do the assignments I do have? No.
This week was supposed to be Senior Week at the University of North Carolina. The Senior Graduation Fair was planned and the long-awaited “Bell Tower Climb” (where each senior earns the right to sign their name on the bricks inside the tower) was meant to take place yesterday. I was supposed to attend Senior Bar-Golf, the Jubilee Concert, and finish the week out with the Class Ring Ceremony where I took pictures with my family in my new class ring. All of these things, and so much more, were events I looked forward to for the past 3.75 years until everything was abruptly halted due to COVID-19.
With the thoughts of Senior Week and my longing to have fun with my friends on campus, the push to complete my work for my classes while at home is immensely low. Waking up at home and trying to be productive in the same house, I’ve spent the majority of my time in since spring break (the beginning of March), is extremely hard. The only place to go is the couch, dining room table, and bed. And I have found myself rotating between all three places looking to find the right spot to motivate me for that day.
I disappointed that my senior year had to end like this due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but I am confident it will get better. The class of 2020 will never be forgotten. But until graduation, I have to manage to find some type of motivation to get me through the last two weeks of school before final exams.
Wish me luck!
Blooming where planted,
Ani.
